So, recently I sold my best friend's house. It was nearly two years in the making, since her and her husband proclaimed they were ready to move while we were on our vacation in Mexico. We had lots of time to talk, prepare (mentally and physically) for what it meant to show a home. It means depersonalizing, decluttering and packing up a lot of what you own. It means making a home look like its staged and vacant when you and your spouse and two kids and a dog are definitely living there. It's not an easy task, but I have to say, my friend is always up for a challenge.

About two months ago my best friend came up to me and said she had found her dream home! We set out and looked at it as soon as we were able. It was 95% perfect, but they weren't 100% on the location. They didn't want to lose the home, but I wanted to be sure they saw more than one thing before funneling their savings into a house they loved, but a location they weren't sure about. We looked at some other new builds and later that week found a builder they LOVED they style of, in a place not too far from their current home close to Orenco. There happened to be one home already constructed with a yard, so we put in a contingent offer and crossed our fingers (and toes) and didn't get our hopes up too much. But we quickly readied the current home to start showing a week earlier than planned.

Long story short, we had a weekend full of showings, but they accepted the first offer they received (on the first day of showings!), ready and excited to remove their contingency on their new home and move in before they even planned to sell their old home! Nearly every one of the showings mentioned they loved the staging (we use all of their furniture, and I brought in a few pieces to jazz things up here and there). I want to say it was great luck, it was kizmet, to destiny or fate was on our side... But I look back to two years ago in Mexico when we started talking about them selling, and how much work and preparation they put in, how many sleepless nights it (sometimes) take to uproot your home to better your life in the long run and give your kids a yard! I couldn't be more happy to see them in their new home, knowing that my godson will grow up there (I'm not crying, you're crying!) And even more happy they trusted me, took all of my advice, did research on their own, asked me all their questions (they're ALWAYS welcome and always valid, this is the biggest purchase one is likely to make in their life) and put in ALL the hard work.
